The film room

Mills was born in Atlanta and raised in Colorado Springs. He studied finance and accounting at Baker University in Kansas and went to work in basketball the year he graduated.

The first job was with Spurs Sports & Entertainment in Austin. From there, USA Basketball, then Golden State in the season the Warriors won 73 games, then a year and a half with the Phoenix Suns. He worked with Klutch Sports in 2018 and the Houston Rockets in 2019, and returned to the sport once more at the University of Arizona.

Five years of getting other people ready to compete. By the end of it he owned rental property in Ohio.

Acquisitions

He registered Mills & Co. Real Estate in October 2017 and bought his first rental the following May, while still working in the league. He kept buying through 2020 and 2021, mostly small multifamily and single-family properties acquired below replacement cost and repositioned.

From late 2019 to early 2021 he worked as a relationship banker for Bank of America, which put him on the lender’s side of credit and underwriting while he was financing his own deals. He left in April 2021 to run the portfolio full time. He acquired more than seventy-five units inside two years, concentrated in Ohio with holdings in Texas, and has held most of what he bought.
